With activities on the water and on land, a Pirate Fest in Tampa offers some interesting spectacles.
The Gasparilla festivities in Tampa are January 30, kicking off at 11:30 a.m. with a pirate ship at the south end of Hillsborough Bay. The re-enactment of historic events features the Gasparilla Flotilla rolling along Seddon Channel toward downtown Tampa, docking at the Tampa Convention Center at 1 p.m.
Then on land, dozens of elaborate floats and 14 marching bands are part of the Gasparilla Parade of Pirates.
The parade, from about 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., rolls along Bayshore Boulevard to Brorein Street, east on Brorein Street, then north on Ashley Drive.
Watch the parade for free, or purchase reserved bleacher seat.
